Blackout Fit

Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 9 September 2026

These terms apply to anyone using this website and to anyone registering for, competing in, or volunteering at a Blackout Fitness Challenge event. Registering means you accept them.

Who can take part

You must be 18 or over on the day of the event. There are no exceptions, and this applies to volunteers exactly as it applies to competitors. Age is judged against the date of the event, not the date you register, so you are eligible if you turn 18 in the weeks beforehand.

We ask for your date of birth when you register and we check it. Registrations that do not meet this are refused.

Entry fees, refunds and transfers

Competitors pay the entry fee shown at the point of registration. Volunteers pay nothing. Your place is confirmed once payment has gone through.

Entry fees are not refundable, including if you are injured, fall ill, or simply cannot make it. If you can no longer take part, you may pass your place to somebody else free of charge up to seven days before the event. Email us and we will move the registration across. The person taking your place must meet the same eligibility rules and gives us their own details.

If we cancel or postpone

If we cancel the event, you get a full refund automatically. You do not need to ask.

If we postpone it, your place moves to the new date. If that date does not work for you, tell us within 14 days of the new date being announced and we will refund you in full instead.

We may also have to change details of the event, including the venue, the start time, or the order of the stations. Where that happens we will tell registered participants by email.

The waiver, and your own safety

Competitors sign a waiver on paper at the event, and it is a condition of competing: you will not be able to take part without one, so arrive in time to check in fully. Volunteers do not sign one.

Taking part involves strenuous physical activity, and you accept the risks that come with it. You are responsible for deciding that you are fit to compete, and for stopping if you are not. Tell us on the day if there is something we should know. Our staff may stop you competing on safety grounds.

Conduct

Follow the rules, the movement standards and the instructions our staff give you. We can disqualify or remove anyone for misconduct, for unsafe behaviour, or for treating other participants, volunteers or staff badly. No refund is given in that case.

Photography, video and results

Photographs and video are taken at our events and may be used to promote future ones, including on this website and on social media. By taking part you agree to that. If you would rather not be used, tell us on the day and we will do our best to honour it.

Results are published on this website after the event, showing your first name and last initial, your category, and your finishing place. If you would rather appear under your initials only, email us before the event. How we handle this, and what we can and cannot undo afterwards, is set out in our Privacy Policy.

Changes, and how to reach us

Event details, dates, standards and prices can change, and so can these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and the version in force when you registered is the one that applies to that registration.
